Looks like we gotta save more money. One of my friends recently returned from a backpacking trip in Europe.
This is his itinery.
Paris --> Amsterdam --> Prague --> Vienna --> Fussen --> Reutte (Austria) --> Venice --> Florence --> Cinque Terre --> Rome --> Athens --> Greek Cyclades Islands
Spent $5200, 31 days. Travelled using the Eurail
I think we could save around 8k and have a 2 months trip. May is the best time of year to go, and August is the worst. So i guess we could depart in May, and come back just in time for university :) Leaves us some time to work after ORD to get more funds too! Train wise, we could use the Eurailpass Flexi.
The Eurailpass Flexi entitles you to travel on Railways and some major shipping lines in the participating 17 Eurailpass countries. The Eurailpass Flexi is valid for either 10 or 15 travel days within a 2-month period. These travel days may be used either consecutively or non-consecutively. The pass costs 778 USD, which is around 1315 SGD.
